    Welcome to the kingdoms of Morbourne, Fallhaven and Valcoast. These cities of Domhnall are unique but tied together; Trades occur, merchants travel and treaties are reviewed, signed and broken: it's a way of life. The population is a mix of humans and mages, with the ruling bodies of each kingdom the latter: super powered and deadly. Though for now there is peace, a stable peace, as each depends on the others to maintain the delicate chains of life. What all citizens of every country have most in common however is their védo, a beast that is bonded to them and protects them from the dangers of this world. In a world where loyalty is everything, which side will you choose?

<h1>i will not turn my face from</h1><h2>THE SUN</h2><h1>just because it is burning</h1>

<div class="words">

She glanced across the way at the vibrant sunlight that streamed through. It had a green tint from the leaves and flora around, and it made the light all the more enchanting. Catriona sat up in the bed, breathing light, and her hair in slight disarray from being bedridden. Her powers took a toll on her, and with the last round of healing, she was put to the bed for recuperation. Her eyes weakly scanned the room. There were stone floors, stone walls, and tapestries, and windows. It was simplistic and yet as beautiful as beauty could be.
<p>
Shaking arms pushed herself from the bed, and she stood, wrapping her slender fingers around one of the wooden posts. Aeronwyn stirred just outside the door, pushing it open and looking upon the woman. "You should be resting." The vedo spoke. A fragment of sunlight danced off the tip of the unicorn, and she had to blink away the brilliance.
<p>
"Yet, what good is a head priestess if she can do no more than lay waste in bed all of her days?" She managed a smile, trying her best to instill some sort of healthful feeling inside the creature. As always, Aeronwyn saw right through her strong facade.
<p>
The vedo gestured once again to the bed, and Catriona sighed. "I shall be fine, please." She often came to a battle like this. Aeronwyn cared only for her well being and strength, while Catriona cared for the well being and strength of an entire country.
<p>
"But do not strain yourself. You are weak enough as it is." There was a brilliant smile upon her lips as she realized that the vedo was giving her freedom to leave the room.
<p>
She picked up the hems of her skirts as she made her way from the lonely confines of the room. Several of the others who often attended her on the journeys waited just outside. There were cautious looks upon their faces, but as she stood in the doorway, though she leaned, their hesitations were quieted.
<p>
The sanctuary was a prime place to meet wanderers who came for aid from the Fallhaven healers, and though she knew that she shouldn't be in such a place, as she was far too weak for anyone to approve, Catriona was drawn to the place. She made her way to one of the large trees that sprouted from the earthen ground, and she sat beneath its branches, breathing in the scents of the earth. It was a magnetic pull that even the strongest of forces couldn't drag her away. There was a calming aroma in the air, and good energy all around. The Goddess herself seemed to be ever present in the room, and when the Goddess called Catriona to the sanctuary, she was never one to turn it down.

"And with the others, sister?" Catriona's blue grey eyes were steady as she examined the basket of leaves and herbs. She had already rummaged through the findings and took what she needed, but no more than that. She wasn't one to allow things to go to waste, and her curiosity obviously got the best of her. She wanted to know what the priestess would do with the others, if she would use them herself, or donate them to the lessons of those in training.
<p>
The younger girl shifted and rocked back and forth on her heels as she thought it over. Catriona offered her a sweet, patient smile and turned back to carefully separating the leaves into the little glass boxes she kept to preserve such things. "I thought, priestess, that maybe I'd be able to use some, and some of the other girls who didn't go out picking?"Was she looking for a right answer? There was no wrong answer, though. Not in Catriona's eyes.
<p>
She glanced back up and nodded. "Just curious. Distribute with a smile, dearest one." She had a calm, sweet way of talking to the other priests and priestesses, especially the younger ones. They seemed to fear her for one reason or another, and Catriona often thought of it as her personal mission to make sure that they came to know that she was no one to fear or to be intimidated by.
<p>
After several more moments, she stood, smoothing the silken fabrics of her robe as she moved gracefully over the stone floor. She could feel the coolness through her thin slippers, but she didn't mind. It made her feel just that more connected to the earth.
<p>
"Aeronwyn, are you ready for a stroll?" She looked across the way to the unicorn. There was always an ambient, white light that surrounded the creature of legend, and every time she looked upon the majesty, she felt eternally grateful for such a companion.
<p>
"Always, dearest." The Vedo answered, swishing her tail once around in a circle before tapping one hoof onto the stone. A blanket-embroidered and delicate, was placed on the back of the unicorn, and as Aeronwyn knelt, she mounted. Her hands entangled themselves into the silvery white translucence of the mane, and with that, the pair were off.
<p>
The lands surrounding the temples were all kinds of familiar to Catriona, and she thrived in the natural beauty of it all. Most paths were well worn and known to travelers, but she didn't mind the occasional company.
<p>
A spring just to the side of one of the paths caught their attention, and Aeronwyn trotted off. Catriona slid off the back of the beast, and rested on one of the smooth stones nearby. She closed her eyes and turned her face upward toward the rays of sunlight that seeped through the leaves. It was a day of peace and resting, as far as she could tell.

Catriona is known for her otherworldly healing talents, and for the purity of her soul that is protected by the fabled unicorn. But there is more to the woman than just her long list of kind deeds and innocence. She is a woman, with thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. She is sweet and loving, nurturing to a fault, but she has a mind of her own, and she isn't afraid to speak exactly what is on her mind. At times she can be stubborn, and she has a deep seeded feeling of self sacrifice, which cannot be swayed even by the priest who bears the burden of being the Head.
<p>
Friends She will never turn down anyone, she sees only the goodness in everything and everyone around her, and for that, it would be easy for someone to befriend the woman. She has a heart full of kindness and caring, and when someone becomes Cat's friend, they find that they will have a steadfast friend for as long as they both shall live. She's fiercely loyal to all of her companions, and would happily go out of her way to assist anyone.
<p>
Enemies She's far too kindhearted and pure to ever hate anyone, though that doesn't mean others can't hate her! Maybe jealous mages, some that fear her or are simply jealous of her renowned talents with the magics. This is definitely an open field for play, so definitely ideas should be thrown here.
<p>
Lovers She was taken from her parents when she was no more than a week old, so she has grown up in the temples of Fallhaven. That being said, she's never found any romantic connections, as she views the other priests and priestesses as her brothers and sisters. But it is encouraged for her to wed and have children, and ultimately Catriona would love to be loved and cared for, and to have a child of her own. She deserves a good love.

Sirene is a force to be reckoned with. Like the sea, though she may seem calm and tranquil on the surface, there is a swirling turmoil underneath. She is a bastard daughter of the Valcoast king, and the eldest of his brood. She's an extremely powerful water mage, with manipulation powers to rival that of her father's. But she keeps this under wraps, as she's scared that if his jealousy overtook him, he may set out to try and kill her.
<p>
Friends She's never had many friends outside of her old nannies. She's a bit of a rough woman at times, and sometimes a bit abrasive. But underneath, she is a passionate and driven young woman. She could make to be a rather grand friend, if one can put up with her enough.
<p>
Enemies Sirene can be a viper. She's a rough woman, and she's forceful. Naturally one might dislike her for many reasons. She is an illegitimate child, and she is the offspring of a murderous king of a strange land. Reason enough for some enemies? Sure thing!
<p>
Lovers No, she hasn't taken many lovers. Women are still more desirable as a pure thing, and she can whole heartedly say that she is a virgin. Of course, she has been kissed before, but she's never found someone that really held her attention long enough to pursue a romantic connection.

and then...there was light

<br>
And with her soul, gave birth to the creature of legends. It came as no surprise that, within the week of Catriona's birth, the Order came knocking on the doors, with arms outstretched for the little baby. Her mother wept, but with reluctant arms she gave the bundle to the priestess who had come to claim her. The little unicorn védu trot along on the priestess' heels. Catriona was far too young to know separation, she could not distinguish the cries of her mother from any other, and it wasn't long before Catriona took on the namesake of the older woman known as the Head Priestess.
<p>
Guinevere Jarving had been a kind woman, a powerful mage, but despite her miraculous healing beliefs, she could never have children of her own. Therefore, the girl to take her place had to be found. She truly believed that the birth of Catriona was a blessing from Tierrah herself. Never before had a unicorn came from the spring of one's soul, and Guinevere knew that little Catriona was destined for greatness.
<p>
Growing up in the shrines, Catriona found herself always under the constant supervision of other priestesses, as well as mages who trained her day in and out, digging through to see just what special brand of magic the little girl held. Her védu took on the name of Aeronwen, and it was a rare sight to see little Cat without her most trusted companion.
<p>
She played with the others, and practiced with nothing short of a smile on her face. She loved every moment of every day, she loved to watch the others near her age prance and laugh, and she loved to be taught the magical ways of the priests and priestesses, but most of all, she loved to walk through the gardens and pray and heal alongside the woman she had come to know and love just as a mother: Guinevere.
<p>
Yet, no man can live past their years, and Guinevere was fast approaching that time. Catriona was just twenty six when the woman took to the bed, and she wept from sunrise to sunset. She was the apprentice to the Head Priestess, it had been her duty for years upon years to shadow the woman and do just as she did, and for several days, Catriona felt that she was at a loss, and that her inspiration had fled from her.
<p>
With her passing, there was a ceremony for her death. People from all over came to grieve for the woman, and the next sunrise, Catriona donned the very mantle that the woman had bore just two days before. It was an odd feeling, to say the least, as her heart still ached for the loss, but with everything else, she took it in stride and grieved gracefully.
<p>
She took her duties very seriously, and her doors were open at any hour of any day to those who wished for her help. Though her magic was draining, she never once turned down an ailing man, woman, or child.
<p>
If one sent word her way, Catriona was known to travel far and wide to heal the sick that asked for her blessings. It was mentally and physically draining, but never did she hesitate. When she took on the position of the High Priestess, she vowed to give her very life it meant saving another's.
<p>
Catriona has graced the court of all three kingdoms, extending her kindness to any who outstretch their hand. Whispers of her great abilities have certainly not fallen upon deaf ears, and for that, it is no surprise that she is as famous as she is. But she is careful not to let such praise get to her head, as being humble is one of her most important values.

Catriona is an Earth Mage, as many are from the area she was born in. Her healing magics are unusual and wholly quite potent. Though being rumored to be the most powerful healer in the lands, her powers are ultimately the most delicate.
<p>
She possesses the ability to transfer her life energy into the herbs and leaves of the earth, and through that, she is able to heal nearly anything. The severity of the wound can take any number of toll on her being, as with each healing procedure, she loses a bit of health herself. For that reason, Catriona never travels alone, and she is always in the midst of her very own party of fellow priests and priestesses, as her will to help others can often outweigh the consequences. Many a time has she fallen on the brink of death in saving others, be it from horrendous ship wrecks, animal attacks, or wounds made from battles.
<p>
Due to the nature of her healing, Catriona is unable to heal herself, and must rely on those in her party if circumstances arise that she requires immediate healing. This can often be troublesome, or needed quickly, so only the best of priests and priestesses are chosen to ride along side Catriona.
<p>
It has been said that she can feel the earth. While her mage magic is strongly tied to that of the herbs and plants and healing others, there is a very weak sense of communication between she and the life that grows around her. No, she cannot explicitly talk back and forth with the plants, but she has a sense, almost, of disturbances and other harmful forces of nature, such as if there were a forest fire, or a disease affecting certain plants. Catriona uses this ability when it comes to picking her herbs, because only the purest forms of vegetation can harbor the purity that is her lifeforce.
